SMA ISLAM ATHIRAH KAJAOLALIDO ADAKAN KEGIATAN ENGLISH CAMP, “FUN & EXCITING”

Penggunaan bahasa Inggris dalam kehidupan sehari-hari harus dibiasakan dalam segala aktifitas kita, sehingga kita akan semakin fasih dalam penggunaan bahasa Inggris. Dalam menghadapi era global seperti sekarang ini, sudah menjadi suatu keharusan untuk dapat menguasai bahasa Inggris. Salah satu cara yang ditempuh oleh SMA Islam Athirah Kajaolalido dalam usaha peningkatan penguasaan bahasa Inggris siswa adalah dengan pelaksanaan kegiatan English Camp yang diadakan di Sekolah Islam Athirah Kajaolalido, Makassar. 

Kegiatan English Camp ini diadakan pada tanggal 23 Februari 2019. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Islam Athirah Kajaolalido, Makassar. Kurang lebih 88 siswa SMA Islam Athirah 1 Makassar mengikuti English Camp ini. Kegiatan ini juga dihadiri oleh 2 orang siswa pertukaran pelajar, yaitu:

    1.Raquel Cerezo Mayoral (Siswa Pertukaran Pelajar dari Spanyol, Program AFS)

    2.Hallie Eliza Malsbury (Siswa Pertukaran Pelajar dari Amerika, Program Rotary)

Kegiatan-kegiatan pada English Camp ini antara lain English for daily use, Games dan Outbound.    Kegiatan ini dimulai dengan registrasi peserta yang dimulai pukul 07.30 wita. kemudian dilanjutkan dengan Opening Ceremony yang dibuka oleh Kepala SMA Islam Athirah Kajaolalido, Tawakkal Kahar, S.Pd., M.Pd. didampingi oleh Wakasek Kesiswaan dan Keagamaan, Muh. Mahrus, Lc., M.Pd.I., Wakasek Sarana dan Prasarana, B.J. Gunawan, M.Pd., Ketua Panitia Kegiatan English Camp, Amrizal, S.Pd., Panitia Guru lainnya dan Wali Kelas XI.

Dalam sambutannya, Kepala sekolah berharap dengan adanya kegiatan English Camp ini dapat:

    1. Menjawab Jaminan Mutu Sekolah bahwa siswa SMA Islam Athirah ketika tamat (outputnya), terampil dalam berbahasa Inggris.

    2. Membekali anak-anak kita untuk siap menghadapi perkembangan global dunia, sekaligus menjawab visi Athirah bahwa insan Athirah berwawasan global.

     3. Sekaligus persiapan rencana pembukaan English Class ke depan. 

Siswa kemudian dibagi dalam 18 grup yang beranggotan sekitar 7-9 orang. Tiap grup diberi nama berdasarkan nama negara, dan setiap peserta wajib menuliskan nickname masing-masing. Nickname tersebut berhubungan dengan semua hal tentang nama negara yang digunakan dalam grup tersebut, misalnya tempat wisata di negara tersebut, kota-kota besar dan lain sebagainya.

Setelah acara pembukaan, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan Ice Breaking dan Self Introduction of Facilitators”. Setelah para fasilitator memperkenalkan diri, kemudian siswa saling berkenalan dengan anggota grupnya masing-masing dalam kegiatan “Getting to Know You”. Siswa dikelompokkan dengan siswa dari kelas lain sehingga salah satu hal positif dari kegiatan ini adalah para siswa dapat berkenalan lebih dekat dengan siswa dari kelas XI lainnya. Kegiatan English Camp ini diselingi dengan games-games yang menarik. Setelah ishoma kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan kelompok untuk membuat Video Project. Setelah istirahat untuk sholat Ashar, acara yang paling ditunggu-tunggu oleh para siswa adalah kegiatan Outbound.  

Acara penutupan diselingi dengan pemutaran beberapa video project yang telah dibuat dan dirangkaikan dengan penyerahan award untuk Best Group dan Best Participants.

Acara penutupan diwakili oleh Wakil Kepala Sekolah Bidang Kurikulum dan SDM, Yusran, S.Pd., M.Pd. Dalam sambutannya, Pak Yusran berpesan bahwa siswa-siswa Athirah adalah generasi masa depan, dan untuk berkompetisi dalam era globalisasi, salah satu caranya adalah siswa-siswa Athirah harus dapat menguasai bahasa inggris dengan baik. Rencana kedepannya, SMA Islam Athirah Kajaolalido akan membuka English Class.

Alhamdulillah. The big work is done. The students were very enjoyable and cheerful during the program even this was held only in one whole day. It is proven at the closing ceremony when we found them get exhausted but still, they could keep their spirit and smiles. Thanks to all participants, committees, facilitators, and surely, Mr. Principal, Tawakkal Kahar, S.Pd., M.Pd. and his vice principals. You made it so easy for us. We realised that this program would not be the answer of the quality needs to our school. But, this has become one of our big efforts for our students. Thanks, from all of us.

Jadi saya pikir English Camp adalah pengalaman yang menyenangkan bagi semua orang dan cara yang baik untuk belajar bahasa inggris sambil bermain permainan menyenangkan. Kami juga mendapat teman baru dari kelas lain dan bersenang-senang dengan mereka. Saya sangat menyukai English Camp dan saya berharap program ini terus ada di Athirah untuk generasi berikutnya. On Saturday, February 23rd, I attended an English Camp held by Athirah. I really, really enjoyed the event because it was innovative, interactive, and creative. English can be a though language to understand, so I specially liked the ways that the teachers designed the group activities by simplifying the concepts for students to feel more confident and build on. The event was really encouraging for those wanting to learn English. Besides a well planned busy event, I loved getting to know the students at Athirah more throughout the day. My impression and mesage while attending the English Camp was very happy even though is disturbed our holiday but all the activity were very fun starting from making commercial video, games, and outbound. Even though we have to use English. And also I was happy because the English mentor could be friendly and sociable. I hope the English Camp can be useful later on and make me understand that jus one language is not enough to communicate. (Muh. Afif Muflih – XI. MIPA-1)

Yesterday was unforgettable moment for me. It was sp special because our school held an amazing event that called English Camp. Although it was tiring day but it was so much fun and beneficial for me and the others. In here we can learn English in fun way as what they said “English is Fun”. There were so much games and their games was so fun and not boring soo we were enjoy this English Camp. Hopefully we can meet in other day. (Annisa Syuaib – XI. MIPA-1)

English Camp was very fun event. English Camp it was so very beneficial to us to know more about english. And also we can learn anything about english in fun way and also this event had a fun games so we were not bored and enjoyed this event. (Nur Athiyah Padanita – XI. MIPA-3)

This english camp activity was very memorable for me because with English Camp, make me more confident in speaking English, not only that we also can get to know each other. English camp is very exciting event because there are lots of interesting games and the facilitators is very kind to us. Hopefully the next english camp event can be more interesting and all of Athirah students can speak english fluently. (Nur Iftititah Ivan P. – XI MIPA.1)

For me, English Camp that held by Athirah Senior High School was really fun. From the start to the end we were told to always use English. At first we did not have the courage to use English because we were afraid. But that is the point of this activity. English Camp taught us that using English is really fun. Even though this activity really exhaused us but all of the challenges in English Camp is really fun dan entertaining. I think English Camp is a great way to train our English speaking skill. Because who know? Maybe it will come handy someday. (Indra Wahyu – XI. MIPA.3)

Alhamdulillah, yesterday Athirah held and event that called “English Camp”. It was a great event, because I can increase/improve my english skill. At the beginning of the program, it was very boring because the man who spoke n stand alone did not sound clear. And also my group has 7 members, but only just 4 members that stays till the end, and the rest goes to tournament. But, it’s ok for me ‘cause we can establish intimacy well with our facilitator. Yesterday was a very special day because our school held an English Camp day where we all spoke English all day and there were lots of exciting games and it was really not boring for me because the game needed teamwork and this was an unforgettable moment for me. Kesan dan Pesan dari Fasilitator (English House Club)

Today, we are having a great english camp with Athirah students. They are spiritful, creative, and energetic. They have proved that English environment during English camp has given a great opputunity to practice their english without hesitation. By Mr. A (Agussalim)

It’s such a great day to have the students of Athirah Islamic School as friend to have fun for whole day. I thought it would be hard to make them enjoy the day for they said that it must be their holiday but it was wrong. They took almost all of my energy since they were so active and of course they tried to use English along the day as well. One of my team member gave me a warm hug at the end of the day. It was so touchy. Lucky me to be one of the facilitator at the day. By Ms. Icha
